Dear Class of 2022 Students and Families,
As we wrap up 2021, our administrative team would like to say thank you for your on-going support as we re-establish our wonderful Hazen culture and programs. Here are some updates for you as we head into Winter Break:
In addition to earning 26 credits, students must complete a High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP) and 20 hours of community service in order to graduate. While many students have already been working on their HSBP in their Bridge to College English class, we will formally “kick-off” the process of completion in January through Homeroom. During these Homeroom sessions, students will learn how to transfer existing work from Career Cruising to Xello, the district’s new software, and complete all components of the HSBP. Please attend Homeroom, especially in January. If support is needed, contact your Senior Homeroom teacher, our Career Center Specialist Quan Nguyen, or your School Counselor.

Special Message from our Counselors
We wish you a happy and restful winter break, but also recognize some may next support. If this is a difficult time for you, we want to remind you that you have access to a therapist through Talkspace. You can find a therapist to work with online by going to talkspace.com/RSD – be sure to use your SCHOOL email when signing up. If you’re interested in using Talkspace but want to know more about what it would look like, this video explains more about what Talkspace is and how to use it.

Information about High School and Beyond Plan
We have received many questions about how Seniors will complete their High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP). The HSBP is completed online in a software program called Xello (formerly Career Cruising). We are still working with the district to transition our old rosters and student work to the new platform. Once this transition in complete, students will have access to their old materials. The HSBP is not due until late Spring, so students should not worry about this component quite yet. They may also be completing the HSBP in Bridge to College English as an assignment, which will create built-in work time. Thanks for your patience!
