We are excited to announce the plan we have in place to ensure that every Hazen student has a computer device and access to the internet, in and outside of school, to support their academic success. The Renton School District is committed to giving students a direct connection to powerful learning tools, resources for collaboration, productivity and creation, and to increased learning opportunities. We are looking forward to seeing how students will use the new resources to drive their learning and grow as members of the Renton community.
Thank you for understanding that as we are the largest school in the district, it has taken some time to plan the Chromebook roll-out and to coordinate with our providers to ensure all materials are here and ready for student pick-up prior to the first day of school.
All Hazen students, including full-time Running Start students, will be receiving Chromebooks to support their learning. Students will be expected to bring their devices to school every day, charged, and ready to participate in classroom activities. As a family, you should discuss your expectations for how students will manage their devices at home and how they will responsibly bring them to school each day. Each family will need to have conversations about safe, responsible use of the Chromebook, including where to store the device for charging and where/when the device can be used at home. Many families may decide to set rules such as: using Chromebooks in shared spaces (instead of private rooms), establishing a set time for putting them away before going to bed, or reviewing digital work together.
As these are district devices, please note that they will be monitored twenty-four hours a day for appropriate content and subject matter.
We have many more policies and procedures to review with students, but the first matter is to get these devices into student’s hands. Here is the pick-up plan.
Chromebooks will be distributed to students in the Commons on Monday, August 26 and Tuesday, August 27th. Students should come based on their LAST NAME according to the times below. If possible, please print out the responsible use plan and Chromebook protection policy and send it with your student on either the 26th or 27th. We will also have hard copies available on those days.

Please note: Due to an error in inventory arrival, some Chromebooks are NOT available for pick up today.
Students whose last names begin with TRE through the end of the alphabet will receive their Chromebooks on a later date. A notification will be posted upon availability. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope to rectify the error as soon as possible.
We will also distribute Chromebooks during the first days of school for students who cannot pick-up on the 26th or 27th. However, for the least disruption to the school day, we ask that students prioritize pick up next week.
Chromebooks will arrive uncharged and will need to be charged (at home) before the first day of classes. For the first log in, students must be on campus. We will have a lesson in place for the first day of school to help students re-set their passwords and log into the device.
