2023 Hazen Outstanding Seniors 
It is out pleasure to inform the community that the staff at Hazen has chosen the 12 seniors who will be our Outstanding Seniors for 2023. These students will be recognized at the Renton School District Board Meeting on April 26th. We are very proud and honored to have this group of students represent everything that is outstanding here at Hazen.

The Spring Formal Needs Chaperones! 
If you are interested in chaperoning the dance this Saturday, please let us know! It is a fun event to dress up and spend time (close and far enough away) with your teens. If you are interested please be sure to complete a volunteer application and email Ms. Price.

Spring Formal Tickets on Sale 
Spring Formal tickets are now on sale, you can buy your tickets on the Hazen's website. Tickets will be $15 until the 24th so buy yours before prices go up! The dance is on April 1st at Hazen with a theme of A Night in New Orleans.

Student Leaders Wanted! Now Accepting Applications for the WIAA's LEAP Committee 
WIAA LEAP Committee Applications Due May 31st, 2023! 
The application is now open for the 2023-24 WIAA LEAP Committee.  Applicants must be current sophomores (entering their junior year in the fall of 2023). Students who exhibit leadership qualities and are actively involved in WIAA athletics and activities are encouraged to apply. As part of the following online application, applicants are asked to submit a short, video personal statement. Eight (8) incoming juniors will be selected to join the LEAP Committee and will serve a two-year term spanning their junior and senior years. The LEAP Committee meets 5-6 times each school year at the WIAA office in Renton. Committee members also have the opportunity to be involved in additional WIAA-related opportunities including Executive Board meetings and State Championships. Meeting dates are provided to members upon appointment to the Committee and all travel expenses to and from meetings are reimbursed by the Association.

From the Health Room 
The Renton School District is again offering no cost opportunities for required school vaccinations for students and Covid boosters for all family members. Hazen will be hosting an event on April 20. Please see details and other dates on this schedule.

ATTENTION SENIORS!

Diplomas 
Your name will be printed on your Diploma exactly as it appears in Skyward. If you wish to make a change, please let Mrs. Storms in the registrar's office AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. She has a form for you to fill out. ALL CHANGES MUST BE SUBMITTED TO MRS. STORMS NO LATER THAN TOMORROW WEDNESDAY 3.29!

Important Information 
This is a reminder that your Graduation Requirements are due Monday, April 17th: 

High School & Beyond Plan: To complete your High School and Beyond Plan, see the steps below: 

  • Log into your RSD Portal → Select the “Clever” application → Select “Xello” 
  • On your Dashboard, select the “High School and Beyond Plan – Grade 12 Alternative Requirement” Lesson and complete the requires lessons. 
  • You may also use the attached HSBP Checklist to help you complete the lessons. 
  • Regarding HS&BP: 
    • Here’s the timeline: 
      • Student Deadline: April 17th 
      • Teacher Deadline to report status of HSBP: April 24th.  

20 hours of Community Service: You may submit your community service forms to Ms. Courtney 

  • Attached is a copy of the Community Service Time Log  
  • Need hours? Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities or reach out to Mr. Nguyen! 
  • Regarding Community Service: 
    • Parents can see if community service hours have been logged for their student 
      • Log in to Skyward Family Access 
      • Click on Student Information 
      • If any hours have been logged, it will show on this page. 
    • There is about a 1-week lag time between when a student turns in their Community Service Log, and when Courtney is able to enter the hours in Skyward. As we get closer to the Senior deadline (April 17th) and we have a large volume of students turn in forms, this lag time may get longer. 
  • Senior Questionnaire: (Due May 1st) You must complete your Senior Questionnaire in order for the college/university to receive your final transcript. The scholarships you have accepted and listed in the Questionnaire will be on the Graduation Program.

Senior Grad Event Fundraisers 

Senior Class Spring Plant Sale  
We’re down to our last week to order some beautiful flowers!  The 2023 Hazen Senior Class is selling high quality bedding plants, vegetables, tomatoes, herbs and hanging baskets from Star Lake Greenhouse & we'd love for you to adorn your garden with them.   All proceeds will help support our Senior Overnight Event as well as the graduation rehearsal BBQ.  

The order form can be found on our website.  You can pay by check made payable to Hazen Booster Club or online by credit card.  If you are paying by credit card, don't forget to complete the order form and drop/mail it to the address on the form.  You can also email it to Christie.  Deadline to order is March 31 and items will be available for pick-up at Hazen on April 27, between 2:30pm and 5:30pm, just in time for Mother's Day.
