How to Pair with student on Canvas

Have your student log into  their school Chromebook or go to the RSD portal from the Renton School District webpage. Tap on the Canvas icon. 

1. Tap on the Account button
2. Tap on Settings
3. Have your student enter your email address > register email. Parent should go to their email and look for a message from Canvas. 
4. From the students Canvas Tap on Pair with Observer - a "pairing code" will be generated. 

 5. From the email that was sent to parent or guardian click on the "confirm this registration" link. 

6. You will be taken to a sign in page with your students User name in it - ask them to put in their password (their computer password). Click in Log in. 

If you don't have an account a Parent Sign up window will open. Fill out required fields. 

7. Enter the pairing code from step 4.

8. click on Start Pairing

If you already have a Canvas account log in, go to Dashboard, click on observing and enter your students pairing code. 

Lots of the links that you have saved from previous years may not work this year. It is best to delete all previous bookmarks and start again.

If you are a Renton School District Employee - do not use your RSD email account. It will not work! You can go to the Portal and tap on Canvas, go to the dashboard then tap on +Student. Get the Observer code from the student.
